Garages, detailers, valeters and workshops often share before-and-after images on websites, booking pages and social media. Those images may include customer registrations, background vehicles, reflections on paintwork and plates visible through glass.
A lightweight publishing procedure
Before publishing, check whether each visible registration is needed for the audience. If not, create an edited copy and keep the original in your normal internal records. This is practical privacy-focused housekeeping rather than a legal claim or substitute for your wider data process.
Review before-and-after sets together
Make the check part of preparing the full set, not just the finished image. Workshop bays, forecourts and detailer studios often include multiple customer vehicles, while a before photograph can show a different angle from the after photograph.
Look for reflections and background vehicles
Look for customer vehicles in the background, number plates reflected in paintwork, windows and mirrors, and plates visible through workshop doors or windows. Scan the edges as well as the subject vehicle.
Blur vs pixelate
Blur can keep workshop photos looking tidy for a gallery or case study. Pixelate is more visible and may be useful for internal review copies where staff need to see clearly which areas were edited.
